Hearten HQ is your community headquarters for connection and mental health support.

Research tells us that people thrive when they feel safe.

I help people learn how to cultivate a felt sense of safety for themselves and others, so that we all have the best chance of success in an uncertain world. I specialize in attachment theory and polyvagal theory and how these therapeutic approaches intersect with queer and trans identities, parenting identities, human needs, and healing processes.

Inside Hearten HQ, you’ll find opportunities to engage in therapy, access free or low cost resources for mental health education, engage in live virtual workshops, training, and supervision. I center my work in attachment-based and trauma-informed interventions, and I’m emphatic about how a better understanding of our own and others’ nervous system processes can support more empowered and compassionate relationships, communities, and healing opportunities for all.

My hope is that there is something here for anyone committed to personal, relational, or professional growth. Take a peek around. You (yes, you!) are welcome here.

Support Your Most Important Relationships

I offer therapy rooted in attachment and polyvagal theories to curious, compassionate adults (18+) who are motivated to heal. My clients are deeply empathic with a knack for masking pain with humor. Here you’ll find a judgement-free zone where you can spill about the weird stuff and curse freely.

Counseling Services

  • Substance Use & Recovery

Oftentimes getting sober is just the beginning. Emotionally, recovery can sometimes feel like waking up from a bad dream. Find out how the support of a counselor can be different from that of a sponsor throughout your recovery journey.

  • Relationship Trauma & Healing

The word "trauma" can be scary, or like it's a word that seems to apply to someone else's life, not yours. Discover the true meaning of the word and why it matters when it comes to feeling better. Also find out why "talking about it" sometimes falls short.

  • Anger & Empowerment

When anger becomes unmanageable, we often either feel euphoric (anger can be a kind of "high"), or we can feel ashamed. Sometimes anger gone unexpressed can show up as anxiety, depression, resentment, irritability, or even chronic pain. Working with the energy of anger (instead of bottling it up and then exploding), can bring true empowerment.

  • Adults in Transition

Transitions can feel like a rite of passage, or like jumping off a cliff. Whether the transition you’re in feels more like “arriving” or like “leaving” — be it a new job, new school, new sober life, new identity, new town, new relationship, or the loss of an important relationship or identity — navigating uncharted waters can be tricky. I’m here to help you find your “sea legs.”

Jordan Grob, LCSW, LCAS
(she/her)

Hello and welcome! I’m a queer licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and licensed clinical addictions specialist (LCAS) with over a decade of experience treating and teaching about trauma.

Beyond A "Nod & Smile" Therapist

I am direct. I am loving. And I believe active listening involves more than asking "...and how does that make you feel?" I use transparency in my approach, as I believe this allows for the most effective exploration of oneself in relationship to others.

When Talking Isn't Enough

There is more to how we heal than "talking it out.” Ever felt like talking didn't quite "scratch the itch", or even made things worse? Research shows that traumatic experiences are often not resolved by talking alone. Learn more about how I incorporate body-based methods in my practice.

“We sometimes think we want to disappear, but all we really want is to be found.

Mental Health Education for the Rest of Us

Our community headquarters is also a soon-to-be home to an online learning platform where you can access free or low cost educational resources that serve to broaden perspectives and brighten hearts.

As a licensed mental health therapist and social worker for the past decade, I have received a ton of valuable (however expensive!) continuing education. I specialize in working with folks with trauma, attachment wounds, addictions, and broken relationships. I have extensive training in polyvagal theory, nervous system development, and attachment — as well as a non-pathologizing lens on mental health care.

There is so much gatekeeping around these concepts and theories, and often people don’t learn about them (if ever!) until they’re already sitting in a therapist’s office. I hear statements like “this is the first time I’m learning about this!” or “I wish I knew this earlier!” all. the. time.

Hearten HQ exists to make this information more easily accessible to everyone. The information shared through my online learning platform is information that myself and countless clients of mine over the years have found utterly life-changing. This is the stuff that has transformed relationships, changed minds, and finally allowed for deep healing to take place. Stay tuned for launch!
